Nurses Recognition Week
On May 6, Downtown Hospital commenced its celebration of Nurses Recognition Week with a Recognition Ceremony and Reception. Following greetings from Mr. Menkes, Chief Nursing Officer Nancy Rodenhausen, and Dr. Licht, the following individuals received special recognition as recipients of the 2009 Nursing Excellence Awards: - Clinical Nurse Leadership Award: Merilyn Prasad, RN, Medical Surgical - Clinical Preceptor Award: Lolita Maksom, RN, ICU - Clinical Nurse Excellence Award: Lixia Cai, RN, M.S., CCRN, ICU Honored with a Special Commendation Award was Anne Cummings, RN, from the OR. Mr. Christopher Mann, the incoming President of the Hospital's Board of Trustees, was present at the Award Ceremony.
On May 7, at Nursing Grand Rounds, Marie Boltz, Ph.D., RN, GNP-BC, Assistant Professor and Practice Director from The Hartford Institute for Geriatric Nursing at the New York University College of Nursing, addressed the topic, “The Imperatives and Challenges to Relationship-based Care.” Epifania Quimson, RN, CCRN, Nurse Educator, spoke on, “Magnet Nursing.”
