The Maternity Center at Downtown Hospital offers unsurpassed care attended by a highly skilled team led by Dr. Boris Petrikovsky, our Director of Maternal Fetal Medicine. Dr. Petrikovsky has 20 years of experience in maternal and child healthcare and is recognized nationally as a leader in the field. He has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles and 10 book chapters. His most recent contributions are the textbooks “Fetal Disorders” and “What your unborn baby wants you to know”. Dr. Petrikovsky has pioneered a technique which allows assessment of uterine scars after cesarean sections and performance of fetal interventions. He has also performed the first in-utero transfusion of platelets to a fetus. Moreover, Downtown Hospital's partnership with the New York-Presbyterian Healthcare System means that each of our mothers and babies has full access to the expertise and technology of one of the nation's leading Medical Centers.

Most importantly, because we know the significance of the initial mother-baby bond, each mother can share her room with her newborn, 24 hours a day. For babies that need extra attention, we have a special care nursery just steps away from each suite.
